NIC awards art scholarship

Casper On Friday, April 18th, the Nicolaysen Art Museum awarded its second annual art scholarship to graduating senior Kate Hendrickson of Sheridan High School.

Chosen from more than four thousand entries that comprised the annual high school arts symposium held at the Casper Events Center, Hendrickson will receive $500 to further her studies in the visual arts at a higher education institution of her choice. Hendrickson said is considering the Minneapolis College of Art & Design to further her studies in the visual arts.

The selection committee was extremely impressed with the quality of Hendrickson’s artwork, talent, creativity and dedication shown towards the arts.

This scholarship is currently funded by the Nicolaysen Art Museum’s Board of Directors, with plans to endow it for future recipients. The scholarship was created expressly to nurture the budding talents of a singular high school senior who will go onto a university with plans to study the visual arts.

This scholarship is part of the Nicolaysen’s mission to provide a place to educate, stimulate, and promote the understanding of art so that people can meet, view, study, create, and enjoy contemporary art of the Rocky Mountain Region.
