Our 7th Annual Postcards from the Wild Wild West exhibition and auction is coming April 15 through May 5, 2007. The Postcards event and auction is Saturday evening, May 5, 2007. The Postcards from the Wild Wild West exhibition and auction are important, exciting and fun events that our community looks forward to each year. This exhibition gives us a chance to show your work, along with many other regional artists, and we very much hope that you can participate.
Here is how Postcards from the Wild Wild West works:
The exhibition and auction is a fundraiser for the museum. The proceeds—over $20,000 last year—are specifically dedicated to support our educational and outreach programming. Your submission is a full donation to the Nicolaysen Art Museum. Thank you!
The deadline for submission is Friday, March 16, 2007.
This is an open invitation; all works in any media are welcome. We especially welcome small sculptural and three-dimensional works—wood, ceramics, metal, glass, etc.
We ask that your work be no larger than 5 x 7 inches. If you submit three-dimensional work, please adhere to the (roughly) 5 x 7 inch proportions for height, width and depth.
We will take care of framing for you, as long as your piece is no larger than 5 x 7 inches.
We welcome up to three (3) total submissions per artist. We can accept only original work—no commercial reproductions please.
Postcards from the Wild Wild West is open to all our region’s artists. If you know of an artist who is not on our list, please copy and pass on the invitation.
Five works will be chosen by the Exhibitions and Collections Committee for inclusion in our permanent Nicolaysen Collection.
All submitting artists are invited to be our special guests for the Auction on Saturday, May 5, 2007. Please call or email in advance if you plan to attend. We hope that you can join us for this great event.
We are enormously grateful for your generosity. We realize how many requests for gifts and support you receive each year from our region’s museums, galleries, and deserving non-profit organizations. Your support truly does make a difference. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call.
