Marie Watt is an enrolled member of the Seneca Nation, whose great-grandparents homesteaded in the Power River country near present-day Arvada.  She received degrees in Museum Studies and Art from Willamette University in Salem, Oregon, and the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and an M.F.A. in Painting and Printmaking from Yale University.  One of the most highly celebrated Native artists of the new generation, she recently received the prestigious Joan Mitchell Fellowship.

 

Of special note for this exhibition:  The exhibition catalog includes an essay by Simon Ortiz (Acoma), one of the most important Native poets working today.

 


 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Lynn Munns:  A Life of Teaching

Lynn Munns needs no introduction.  After a long and fruitful lifetime of teaching Ceramics at Casper College, and a deep involvement in the national crafts and ceramics communities, this exhibition celebrates his retirement and achievements as an artist and as a teacher.  Of special note:  At Lynn’s suggestion, this exhibition features works by 17 of Lynn’s former students from throughout his career who have gone on to successful careers in the arts and teaching  (read more)
