Lynn Munns
After 35 years of teaching, this spring of 2006 Lynn Munns is retiring from Casper College to devote his energy to his studio work. Among the extraordinary list of achievements Lynn Munns has accrued—in his career as both an artist and a teacher— he acknowledges first his wonderful wife of 42 years, Sunny, and their loving son, Michael.
Throughout his long and fruitful career he has shown his work extensively, and received widespread recognition and awards far too numerous to mention here. He has been a resident artist at the acclaimed Archie Bray Foundation in Helena, Montana; the Watershed Center in ___; Anderson Ranch in Snowmass, Colorado; the Peters Valley Craft Center in Layton, New Jersey; and at workshops and universities through the west. Throughout his career Lynn has been devoted to the ceramics arts and a good friend and colleague to most of the best-known and respected ceramicists across the country.
Lynn has devoted his life and work to the Fine Arts through his teaching, his ten years of service on the Wyoming Arts Council Board, as a board member of the Nicolaysen Art Museum, the Wyoming Advocates for Cultural Development, the Western States Arts Foundation, the National Assembly of State Arts Agencies, and the National Endowment for the Arts. His many years as the Chair of Casper College’s Fine Arts Division leaves a rich history for college and its community. His life as an artist, a teacher, a cultural and academic leader, and as a tireless supporter of the Fine Arts is an extraordinarily rich and deep legacy for Casper College, for Wyoming, and for the American ceramics community.
