Our Artist of the Month for July is Tom Loepp. His class will be held on July 15th. Tom is offering a morning session from 10-12 am and an afternoon session from 1-3 pm. He will cover a variety of mediums including, but not limited to, graphite, charcoal, and watercolor. The cost for the class is $20 for one session or $35 when you sign up for both sessions. All supplies will be provided however, if students have supplies they have used in the past and are more comfortable with these they may bring them to the class. Students are also encouraged, but not required, to bring a photograph or object to class they would like to illustrate. If you plan on working from a live model, bring a friend. Tom will cover the basics of illustration and persons of all skill levels are invited to attend. Loepp will have examples of his work for the class to view during the session as well as on display at the NIC throughout the month of July. Space is limited to 15 students so please register with Linda Lyman today by calling the NIC at 235-5247.
Loepp is a Casper native who studied art in to New York and throughout Europe. Loepp says of his work, “I found that there is a life and energy one can achieve in a painting of which can best be gotten through direct observation from nature. My life would become a series of experiences and my drawings and paintings are memories of those experiences. To make the world my studio and its inhabitants my models seemed, if not profound, at least interesting.” For more information about Loepp please visit his website at www.tomloepp.com.
