Celebrate!

Selections from 40 Years of the Nicolaysen Art Museum Permanent Collection

May 11- July 22, 2007

Opening in the McMurry Gallery on May 11th is Celebrate! Selections from 40 Years of the Nicolaysen Art Museum Permanent Collection. This exhibition will comprise selected artworks in all media from the vast holdings of the Nicolaysen Art Museum. The permanent collection contains roughly 6,000-7,000 objects, including paintings, sculpture, textiles, decorative arts, drawings, photography, prints, and other works on paper. The core of the permanent collection consists of the vast holdings from the Conrad Schwiering estate, the beloved Wyoming painter who documented the vast beauty of this state and the changeable landscapes of the West. The Nicolaysen holds his reconstructed studio, drawings, paintings, sketches, and library. The permanent collection is built around contemporary art and artists who live or are inspired by the Rocky Mountain/Great Plains region.
