Ginnie Madsen: Along My Way

April 25 - June, 2008

"Morning After"

Ginnie Madsen received her BFA from the University of Chicago in 1968 and her MFA from the University of Wyoming in 1991. This artist is equally at home within the varied mediums of oil paint, printmaking, and watercolor. She utilizes all of these mediums to express her fascination with atmosphere and light in landscape as well as exploring the subtle intimacies that exist indoors and in everyday life. Her paintings are very much focused on color and pattern and she is also drawn to the energy and groupings of crowds and vehicles as they pertain to stock car racing within the surrounding flat prairie. She is a keen observer of the world and finds no subject matter to humble as her eye and paintbrush ranges from worn down construction sites to people sitting in cafes, lost in thought.
