To sign up, please read the PROCEDURAL AGREEMENT, then download (from the link at the bottom of that page) and print the registration form , fill it out and return it to the NIC with your payment.

Week One (June 8-11)

Animal Portraits    
Tuesday, June 8th - 10:00-11:00 a.m.
Ages 8-10
Class limited to10 students   
Class Fee: Non-members $35, Members $30                             

Learn about various movements in portraiture while exploring the possibilities of textural materials and paints on canvas. Create a unique animal portrait. This animal can be real, imaginary or even a favorite pet. Bring images for reference if you like.

Polymer Clay  
Friday, June 11th - 10:00-11:00 a.m.      
Ages 6-10

Try your hand at this tactile medium. Set your creative genius free as you explore different ways of texturing, layering, blending, shaping and manipulating this versatile material.

Scratchboard Etching
Friday, June 11th - 1:00-2:30 p.m.      
Ages 11-14

Introduce and develop skills in this interesting medium. Create your own etchings that can be framed and hung on the wall.

 

Week Two (June 15-18)

Adventures in Painting      
Tuesday, June 15th - 10:00-11:00 a.m.   
Ages 2-6 with adult
Class limited to 12
Class fee: Non-members:$20.00   Members: $15.00

This hands-on painting class is all about the process of creating and exploring art. Experience a tactile, textural approach to painting as you and your child try out different techniques on a variety of surfaces. This class is for children and their parent (or adult). Please dress in clothes that can get messy and won’t get in the way of your creativity.

Micro-Masterpieces   
Tuesday, June 15th - 1:00-2:00 p.m.        
Ages 5-10
Class limited to 10
Class fee: Non-members $20.00   Members: $15.00

Shrinky Dinks, a classic from 1973, is a shrinkable plastic sheeting that becomes a third of its original size when heated. Try your hand at different types of coloring techniques and create amazing micro art.

Clayboard Creations
Wednesday, June 16th - 10:00-11:00 a.m.
Ages 8-10
Class limited to 10

An ideal surface for mixed-media artwork, painting on clayboard can be approached in a loose, stylized manner--acrylics, inks, pens, pencils, etching tools and collage are a few of the materials that will be used.  Try out the endless materials and possibilities offered when using this exciting medium.

Whether you sketch or doodle, this class will help develop your drawing abilities through fun sketching challenges.  These drawing exercises will help develop hand-eye coordination, observation and problem solving abilities.  Have fun while sharpening your drawing skills through a variety of materials!
